Award winning young author Dara McAnulty described how life changed on moving from Belfast to County Fermanagh. “The volume was turned down enough to hear things and we discovered quiet places so alive with wildlife.” As a GP living and working in Irvinestown, County Fermanagh, this really resonates with me as I identified the same change when I relocated back to my native Fermanagh. I really cherish the “turned down volume” and quiet pace of life with no commute to work. I find calm being able to retreat for a walk, in nearby forests or by the lakeshore. Nothing can beat a Fermanagh sunset to soothe the soul!
